South Korea's REACH-like registration scheme will go in effect from Jan 1st, 2015. With only less than 2 months to go, several updates have been issued recently regarding the chemical registration, including the very important list of 1st batch of PECs. In the meantime, we would like to remind you that new chemicals are required to comply with both K-REACH and OSHA. Also, the deadline for new chemical registration exemption application under TCCA deserves equal attention.

K-REACH: Draft List of 1st Batch PECs Released
MOE released the draft list of the first batch of PECs, containing 518 chemicals. This batch of PECs must be registered within 3 years of the release date of the final list.
 
New Chemicals in Korea Required to Comply with Both K-REACH and OSHA
Although new chemical registration work previously conducted under TCCA will be transferred to K-REACH on 1 Jan 2015, the companies should still notify their new chemical substances under OSHA without any delay.
 
19 Dec 2014: Deadline for Korea New Chemical Registration Exemption Application under TCCA
KCMA has set the new chemical registration exemption application deadline by 19 Dec 2014. If the data supplementation is not completed by the end of 2014, the exemption application will be rejected.
 
Korea Publishes Official English Version of K-REACH
The official English version of “K-REACH” is now available on the K-REACH Help Desk, an online platform designed by Korea MoE to support potential registrants to better comply with K-REACH.
 
Korea Updates Toxic Chemical Substance and GHS Classification Lists
South Korea’s National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) announced that the Toxic Chemical Substance List (TCSL) and Observational Chemical Substances List (OCSL) were updated.
