China Food Contact Materials and Articles Regulation
In order to ensure the quality and safety of food contact materials (FCMs) and protect human health, National Health and Family Planning Commission of the People’s Republic of China (“NHFPC” for short) released GB 4806.1-2016 "General Safety Requirements for Food Contact Materials and Articles", GB 9585-2016 and 51 other national food safety standards on November 18, 2016, forming China's new regulatory system for food contact materials.

Chinese Disinfection Product Regulation System and Compliance Strategy
The Chinese government started to regulate disinfectant products since 1987 with hygiene licenses. In 2014 the NHFPC issued Regulations on Administrative License of New Disinfection and Aquatic Products, the comprehensive regulatory system is finally established as we know today.

K-REACH: 334 PECs Finished LR Election
4 Dec 2017 334 priority existing chemical substances (PECs) have finished LR election under K-REACH, of which four PECs newly completed the election process in Nov. One PEC that previously finished LR election was deleted since the elected LR opted out.

China Approved 6 New Food Contact Material Substances
1 Dec 2017 China NHFPC announced the approval of 6 new varieties of food related products, including 3 new additives of food contact materials (FCM), 1 new resin used in FCM, and the application scope and usage amount are expanded for 2 additives.

South Korea Passes New Biocides Law (K-BPR)
1 Dec 2017 South Korea’s Cabinet passed a new biocides law named K-BPR in Aug of 2017. Manufacturers or importers should submit relevant documents to the Authority in order to avail of the grace period before practical implementation of the regulation.

24 Nov 2017 14 FAQs on China new chemical substances notification were amended or deleted, to be in line with the new amendments on data requirements in China’s New Substance Notification Guidance which took effect from 15 Oct 2017.
